Mental Health Support and Treatment Plans

Our doctors can support you with issues such as:

  • Anxiety and worry: Including generalised anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, and health-related anxiety.
  • Depression and low mood: Assessment, support, and management plans for low mood, loss of motivation, or changes in sleep and appetite.
  • Stress and burnout: Support with work pressures, life stressors, chronic overload, and developing healthier coping strategies.
  • Adjustment and grief: Care for emotional distress following major life changes, loss, illness, or relationship difficulties.
  • Women’s, men’s, and adolescent mental health: Sensitive, age-appropriate support tailored to each person’s needs and circumstances.

Our GPs can prepare Mental Health Treatment Plans (MHTPs) when appropriate. These plans allow eligible patients to access Medicare-subsidised sessions with psychologists, mental health social workers, and other allied health professionals. We can also assist with referrals, ongoing review, and coordinating your care.

Eating disorders and disordered eating

Our GPs provide sensitive and non-judgemental support for people experiencing concerns such as restrictive eating, binge eating, purging behaviours, body image distress, or a difficult relationship with food.

When appropriate, we can create an Eating Disorder Management Plan (EDMP), which enables eligible patients to access Medicare-subsidised sessions with psychologists, dietitians, and other skilled eating-disorder clinicians.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi)

Insomnia is common—and often treatable without medication.
At Andrew Place Clinic, Dr Lisa Mifsud provides structured CBTi programs for patients experiencing persistent sleep difficulties.

CBTi can help with:

  • Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
  • Early morning awakening
  • Sleep-related anxiety or overthinking at night
  • Irregular sleep patterns
  • Long-term dependence on sleep medications

This evidence-based treatment focuses on reshaping unhelpful sleep habits, correcting the body clock, addressing anxious thoughts around sleep, and rebuilding confidence in your ability to rest.

We tailor the program to your lifestyle and specific sleep challenges, with practical strategies you can use immediately.

Whether you are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, low mood, stress, insomnia, or simply feel that something isn’t quite right, we are here to help.
