Seeing your GP regularly leads to better health outcomes
MyMedicare is a voluntary program that aims to strengthen and formalize the relationship between our patients, their GP and the practice, which will lead to better health outcomes.
Patients will have access to new benefits including longer Telehealth consultations, Regular visits for those in aged care homes and connections to more appropriate care for those with chronic conditions who visit hospital frequently.

How do patients register with MyMedicare?

Your Privacy
MyMedicare is a registration system and won't hold any of your clinical health information. Your clinical health information will continue to be stored in your My Health Record, if you have one. All personal information recoded in MyMedicare, including your chosen health care providers,
will be kept secure and your privacy will be maintaned. Read the MyMedicare Privacy Notice at health.gov.au/mymedicare-privacy for further information.

How do patients register with MyMedicare?
To register in MyMedicare, patients must have either:
- a Medicare card
- Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Veteran Card.
- 2 face-to-face visits recorded with the same practice in the last 24 months to be eligible to register with that practice
- Parents/guardians and children can be registered at the same practice if one of them is eligible and registered at the practice
- Exemptions apply to people who are facing hardship including people experiencing domestic and family violence and/or homelessness
Patients can complete registration in one of the following ways:
- In the patients Medicare Online Account or the Express Plus Medicare mobile app
- Patients can fill out a registration form at the practice (or provided by their visiting GP) and sign the form to provide consent.
- Patients who register with a DVA Veteran Card will need to fill out a registration form at the practice as registration via Medicare online services can only be completed using a Medicare card
- A parent/guardian will need to register a child under 14 years and provide consent on their behalf
- Young people aged 14 to 17 years will be able to register and provide consent without a parent/guardian. It is important to note that registration for a child under 14 years will need to be completed at the practice
